What: Concept, copy, design, art, photography, hand-lettered headline
For: "LA’s Largest Pro Audio Dealer" full-page color magazine ad
Client: Everything Audio

Just here to get your attention
Yet another in a continuing series of Everything Audio ads. The "people pictures" are here and continued to get excellent results for the company. The background art and lettering was a radical departure for a pro audio ad. It may not have aged so well as some of my other work, but you must admit— it gets your attention.
I suppose '80s retro is a fair name for this style. When I was doing it, it had no name. Nor many practitioners. And certainly none in the "serious" industries. The style drew on "modern" elements of earlier styles, mostly from the '30s through the '50s. Color and layout were generally more brash than those earlier styles and that is why retro seems a fair term for it.
