On most of his recordings through the years, Eric Wrobbel has sung and played all the parts. So for this video, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” he extends the gag by performing all the parts as well.
As he says, “A joker’s work is never done.”
Since Les Paul, many recording artists have doubled (and tripled) their own voices and instruments on their recordings. Eric Wrobbel has been doing this since the 1960s, recording anonymously, pseudonymously, and, rarely, under his own name. Regardless of band name or credit, he is sometimes the only person on these multi-layered recordings.
Such is the case here on this Christmas classic which features a rare on-screen appearance recorded (obviously) at the same time as Wrobbel’s heartwarming “I'll Be Home For Christmas.”
As in that video, Wrobbel’s goofy humor is hidden right in front of the viewer’s eyes. He not only sings all the parts on this a cappella recording, he plays them onscreen as well.
